About Jen

I’m a voice teacher, singer and actor based in Sydney. I provide voice training to professional and aspiring professional singers in musical theatre.

As well as working with many of Australia's premier musical theatre performers in my studio, I teach vocal technique and musical theatre for the NIDA Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting), Brent Street’s Diploma of Musical Theatre and The Hub Studio.

I’m also engaged as a singing voice specialist and consultant on musical productions, most recently working with the Australian Ballet on An American In Paris.

My annual Tertiary Musical Theatre Audition Course has had huge success in assisting students to gain admission into Australia’s leading drama schools such as WAAPA, VCA, NIDA, QLD Conservatorium and Elder Conservatorium.

This is for you if…

• You are currently working on a show and want to keep your voice healthy.

• You need help preparing for auditions or your next show.

• You are a dancer or actor struggling with vocal identity as a “singer”.

• You have recently graduated from training and need guidance transitioning from student to professional.

• You are currently studying musical theatre or performing arts at a tertiary level or plan to audition for these courses in the future.

• You are looking to be challenged and inspired, understand your instrument better, set new goals or level up your career.

I’m probably not for you if…

You are under 16 or an absolute beginner.

I’d love to work with you, but my studio gets very busy so I focus only on professional and aspiring professional singers.

If you’d still like to get in touch I can recommend some great teachers!

KAT HOYOS

What I love about Jen (in the nicest way possible), is she is an absolute nerd when it comes to knowing about the voice - anatomically, and as an instrument. What comes with being an absolute nerd is passion and knowledge. Her face lights up when she talks about it. You can tell she cares about it, and cares about you. She keeps learning, she keeps expanding, and in my eyes, is what a teacher should be. Sharing her inspired wisdom. Oh yeah, and a helluva singer herself.

I’ve had Jen as a vocal coach for a year now and she has pushed me, encouraged me and inspired me more then she knows! I started off participating in her vocal technique classes at Brent Street, and once I realised what a genius she was, came to her for private lessons. Seeing Jen has allowed my voice to improve more than it ever has before. She’ll tell you otherwise, but she is just magic and I highly recommend her to anyone!

I came to Jen as a weekly vocal coach after graduating from WAAPA. Jen soon became much more than this! With advice about the industry, casting agents and golden information she soon became a life saver. Jen has such in-depth knowledge as a singer and performer and can always answer my obscure questions, no matter the topic. Her studio space is friendly and open, much like Jen herself and she has allowed my voice to grow exponentially.
